Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about how WC3Tracker works and what the data means.

What is WC3Tracker?
WC3Tracker is an independent analytics platform that monitors live Warcraft 3 custom game lobbies on Battle.net. It tracks which maps are being played, who is hosting, how full lobbies get, and how activity has changed over time.
How is this data collected?
WC3Tracker aggregates data through a combination of publicly available Warcraft 3 lobby trackers and a proprietary API built for high-uptime real-time tracking. There is no official Blizzard API for custom game lobby data — WC3Tracker built its own infrastructure to collect and preserve this information. Every lobby opening and closing is recorded. No private data is accessed.
How current is the live data?
The live lobby view updates every polling cycle. New lobbies appear within seconds of opening on Battle.net, and closed lobbies are removed shortly after they disappear from the public feed.
What does "unique hosts" mean?
Unique hosts is a count of distinct BattleTag identifiers that hosted at least one lobby in a given time period. It measures how many different players were actively hosting — regardless of how many lobbies each individual opened. This is used as a proxy for active player base size.
Why are maps grouped together?
A single map like DotA may have dozens of active versions (DotA_v6.89, DotA_v6.90c, etc.). WC3Tracker groups these by stripping version numbers and copy markers to show combined statistics for the map as a whole. Individual versions are still visible on each map's detail page.
Are all Battle.net servers covered?
Yes. WC3Tracker tracks lobbies across the Europe, Americas, and Korea/Asia Battle.net servers. You can filter by server in the live lobby view and explore per-server statistics at the server pages.
Is WC3Tracker affiliated with Blizzard?
No. WC3Tracker is an independent community project with no affiliation to Blizzard Entertainment. It collects publicly visible custom game lobby data through its own tracking infrastructure, built because no official API or public data source for this information exists.
Can I get a shareable link for a specific map?
Yes. When you open a map in the Map Stats tab, the URL updates to include that map's identifier (e.g. wc3tracker.com/?group=dota). Copy that URL to share it directly, or use the "Copy link" button in the map detail panel.
How far back does the historical data go?
Historical data goes back to when tracking began. The further back you go, the more complete the record becomes. Every day of new data adds to a growing archive that cannot be reconstructed retroactively — making early data increasingly valuable over time.
How do I get my map listed or corrected?
Maps are added automatically as soon as someone hosts them on Battle.net and WC3Tracker detects the lobby. If a map name is displaying incorrectly due to a grouping issue, you can reach out via the Community section of the app.
